Women's Ministries
WMConnections vision statement reads: “To minister spiritually and socially to all the women of Zion church and to reach out to the women of our community and beyond.”
We have several branches which currently include:
- Willing Hands
- Ladies Bible Studies
- Special Events
- Participation in events sponsored by our denominational EMCWomen
Willing Hands: is committed to leading women into a growing relationship with Jesus, developing maturity through participation in the local and world wide ministries of the church. The 3rd Tuesday of the month (September through June) is a day for quilting, encouragement and fellowship including a noon meal. Additional activities include participation in Meals on Wheels, Overseas Missionary Support, Secret Sisters, World Day of Prayer, Birthday Party at Aspen Ridge Lodge, and Birthday Tea at the Hospital (Unit 4). Bible Studies: These studies generally run September through December and January through April (call the church office for details at 403-335-3629). Cubbies, a children’s club for 3 & 4 year olds, runs at the same time as the study making it an enjoyable, learning time for Moms and their children.
Special Events:
- February - Valentine Banquet (not just for ladies - not just for couples) For the past few years we have successfully partnered with our youth to provide an adult outreach event while raising funds for the ministry programs planned by ZionYouth and W.M. Connections.
- April 2010 - W.M. Connections embarked on a new endeavour when a team of women from Zion travelled to BC and very successfully hosted a ladies retreat for 1st Nation Women from Seabird Island and surrounding area. Many connections were made and will be continued between the ladies of our team and our guests.
- Spring Event - usually in May - This year, Brunch event on May 29, 2010
- September - Ladies Retreat at Rivers Edge (Sept. 17-19, 2010 - we plan to focus on Women's Relationships and Mentoring this year for lots of small group interaction, fun and free time.)
- December - Christmas Outreach Event - In 2009 we held a very casual evening with crafts for the Christmas Hampers, ample coffee & visiting time and a heartwarming holiday movie.
