Women's Ministries
The goal of WMConnections is: “To minister spiritually and socially to all the women
of Zion church and to reach out to the women of our community.”
You will discover that:
- All women are welcomed.
- Some areas have been well established for many years.
- Some areas are brand new.
- New opportunities develop as interest or needs arise.
- We partner with other EMC churches and Christian organizations for rallies, conferences or projects.
We have several branches which currently include:
- Willing Hands
- Ladies Bible Studies
- Soul Sisters
- Volleyball
- Special Events
- Participation in events sponsored by our denominational EMCWomen
Willing Hands: is committed to leading women into a growing relationship with Jesus, developing maturity through participation in the local and world wide ministries of the church. The 3rd Tuesday of the month (September through June) is a day for quilting, encouragement and fellowship including a noon meal. Additional activities include participation in Meals on Wheels, Overseas Missionary Support, Secret Sisters, World Day of Prayer, Birthday Party at Aspen Ridge Lodge, and Birthday Tea at the Hospital (Unit 4). Bible Studies: Thursdays at 9:15 am; two studies run concurrently (call the church office for details - 403-335-3629). These studies generally run September through December and January through April. Cubbies, a children’s club for 3 & 4 year olds, runs at the same time as the study making it an enjoyable, learning time for Moms and their children.
Soul Sisters: is an awesome opportunity for Zion women to develop closer bonds with one another. Esther Anderson matches up those who wish to participate with a new “Sister” each spring and we get to know one another better as we share our lives with, and pray for, one another.
Ladies Volleyball: Ladies meet Wednesday nights for a fun game of volleyball after the kids are all cared for (8—10 pm).
Special Events:
- February - Valentine Banquet (not just for ladies - not just for couples)
- Spring (usually April) EMCC District Ladies Rally
- May - Spring Fling
- September - Ladies Retreat at Rivers Edge (Chocolate Boutique 2007)
- December - Christmas Outreach Event - This year we're cooperating with our Facilities Manager Norm Morris who volunteered to head up the Adult Christmas Banquet on December 1, 2007.
